The world of The Seven Deadly Sins turns convention on its head. The Seven Deadly Sins are the heroes of the story, while the Ten Commandments– such as Melascula, or Faith– are Demons, enemies of the human race and eaters of souls. Like Meliodas, Melascula's appearance in the anime is deceptive. She's a lot older than she looks, and she's a powerful Demon.

10 Details Of Her Snake Origins
At first glance, she looks like a cute young girl with pink hair wearing a white leotard with a pink bow, and pink stockings. But, she’s really a snake in human form.
It's during the Albion arc that she mentions being in the physical realm for the first time in 3,000 years. That includes 300 years in the Demon Realm wallowing in miasma as a little white snake who grows into a giant. She also has an extremely long tongue, and an enlarged mouth from her snake form.
9 Her Role In The War Between The Demon Clan & The Four Races
Some time during the 3,000 year period before Melascula and the other Demons headed to Earth, there was a war between the Demon Clan and the Four Races, which includes the Human, Fairy, Giant, and Goddess Clans. The Demon Clan, under the Demon King, who was created by Chaos, live in the Demon Realm.
Most Demons, including Melascula are born there, and that’s where she was sealed away after the War, along with the rest of the Demons, by the Goddess Clan into the Coffin of Eternal Darkness, until the Demon Fraudrin set them loose again.
8 Her Snake Form Is Strong – But Not As Strong As Her Human Magic
Melascula can transform back into her giant hooded snake form, which has a great deal of endurance and strength. She was able to hold Ban down using only her snake jaws, even as she was under attack by the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins.
But, all the same, the story seems to suggest that the snake form (even as her original and true form) may not be as strong as her human form. In Chapter 229 of the manga, Merlin implies that Melasula’s magic could have turned things around for her.
7 Vengeful Soul Revival (Onhangon no Hou) Explained
Vengeful Soul Revival is one of Melasula’s lesser used techniques, and she’s the best at it of all the Demons. In Chapter 143, Melascula explains the Vengeful Soul Revival technique to King's sister, Elaine. In essence, she is able to bring back the dead by connecting to their regrets, and the lingering feelings they have for life and the living.

Once those regrets and old feelings are gone, though, they go back to being dead. It works well with rage and anger, calling souls back to the world of the living to try to resolve old grudges.
6 She Has A Movable Heart& Snake Venom Toxicity – But The Latter Doesn't Work On Elaine
In chapter 230 of the manga, Melascula makes a miscalculation that ends her battle with the Seven Deadly Sins. She also reveals two crucial details about her powers.
First, she's able to move her heart around to avoid Ban's powerfulattack while she’s in snake form. Then, she uses the Deadly Poison technique, which derives from her toxic digestive powers (something she's only able to use in snake form). She melts Ban down to rotting flesh on bones with that power– but, it doesn't work on Elaine.
5 Her English Voice Actor Also Plays Ellen In The Series
The actress who voices Melascula for the English version is Mela Lee.Lee is a popular voice actress probably best known as Jade in the video game Mortal Kombat 11.
She also voices another character in Seven Deadly Sins:Ellen. Ellen is a young girl who’s shrouded in mystery. After the Holy Knights took the rest of the people in her village away, she continues to live near the Capital of the Dead.
4 Snakes Can Symbolize A Love For Alcohol In JapaneseCulture
It’s not confirmed or denied in the manga or anime, but there is a link between snakes and alcohol– the latter of which the character of Melascula loves– in Japanese culture. Did it influence the character or her original form?

In Japanese lore, Uwabamior Daija are giant snakes with an appetite for alcohol, especially sake. Some old legends even mention a shapeshifting Daijawho can become a handsome prince. Used as slang, Uwabami means someone who drinks too much.
3 Melascula's Final End Aids Meliodas
Melascula saves herself by moving her heart over her own body, but it doesn't save her from defeat at the hands of Elaine and Elizabeth. But, instead of killing her, they remove the miasma, and return her to the form of a tiny white snake with red eyes.
As such, she's snatched up by Merlin and placed in a test tube. She survives to the New Holy War arc, where Merlin sees her test tube shatter. Her Commandment leaves her to join the others (to increase Meliodas’ power), and that's the last she's seen.
2 Durability Is Her Super Power
As a Demon, Melascula has few weaknesses, but many strengths and super abilities. Durability and stamina are paramount on the strengths list.
She was able to block strikes from Ban, who was more powerful than Galan at the time. She was protected from Galan's shockwave by manipulating her shadows. That makes her Island level plus in those areas. Her only other ability that comes close is her destructive power, the extent of which hasn’t been fully explored in the story.
1 The Summon Ring Displays Her Character
Among the Demons,Melascula is able to manipulate her shadows into something called the Summon Ring (or Samon Ringu). Essentially, her cloak of darkness becomes a portal, and she can summon Grey, Blue, and Red Demons both to and from various locations.
She’s also able to track them through something that acts like a sonar. It comes in handy, and it’s an ability, but it also shows her character as someone who’d rather get others do to her dirty work– which is, in her case, often.
